Budget-Friendly Half-Term Activities

Keeping your little ones entertained while they’re off school, all without breaking the bank, can be challenging. That’s why we’ve put together a list of budget-friendly half-term activities you can treat the kids to for less this February!

Take a Trip to the Cinema For £2.75 or Less!

The cinema is a great way to keep the kids entertained, but it can be expensive.

That’s why we would recommend going during the school holidays, when you can watch the latest films on the big screen for £2.75 or less! The UK cinemas offering deals are:

  • Odeon – £2.75 kids’ screenings every weekend and every day during the school holidays. (Select cinemas only).
  • Vue – £2.49 late morning kids’ screenings every weekend from 10am and every day during the school holidays for children aged 4-11 and accompanying adults. (This offer is when booked online).
  • Cineworld – £2.50 weekly kids’ screenings.

Visit a Local Children’s Farm for Free

If your kids love animals, why not visit a local children’s farm for free? There are several interactive, free-to-enter, educational farms located all across the UK, including but not limited to:

  • Deen City Farm near Wimbledon, South-West London. Open Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays from 10am to 4.30pm. Booking is recommended, and essential during school holidays.
  • Stonebridge City Farm in Nottingham. Open every day from 10am to 4.15pm. No need to book.
  • Bath City Farm near Bath. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 4pm and Sunday from 9.30am to 4pm. No need to book.

Do Some Family Baking

If the weather’s not looking great outside, baking is the perfect activity to avoid the kids getting bored while staying indoors. You’ll also probably have all of the basic ingredients you need in your cupboards already!

If you’re missing some ingredients, why not try ordering a cheap baking kit online that has everything you need all in one box?

Treat Kitchen has some amazing options, including biscuits, muffins, scones and even gingerbread kits and ready-to-make ice cream! Check out their current sale here.

Head Out For Some Free Food!

To save you from doing a big food shop and having to cook, plenty of cafés and restaurants across the UK offer free kids meals during the school holidays, including but not limited to:

  • Prezzo – kids aged up to 12 years old can eat a three-course meal for free when an adult main meal is purchased from the ‘A La Carte’ menu during the February half-term. This offer is available from Sunday 9th February – Sunday 23rd February (but does exclude Friday 14th February). You can use this deal alongside the ‘Meerkat Meals’ 25% off bill discount but not any other offer, discount or set menu.
  • Asda Cafés – kids aged 16 or under can eat for £1 when dining in at any Asda café. There’s no minimum spend required and the deal is valid all day, seven days a week. There is a maximum of one meal per child, per day. There is no specific end date as this is an ongoing deal.
  • Beefeater – free kids breakfast when an adult buys an unlimited cooked breakfast (£10.99). This offer is valid during breakfast hours every day of the week and is automatically applied to the bill. There is no specific end date as this is an ongoing deal.
